Harbor of the Mind: A Sailor’s Memoir, the newest release from internationally recognized author and scholar, Rear Admiral Joseph F. Callo, U.S. Navy (Retired), is now available from Sea History Press. The book is a self-portrait painted in poems, vignettes and quiet musings reflecting time in the military and in civilian life as a lifelong sailor. In this remarkable work of poetic memoir, Callo recalls his voyage through relationships, ports of call, and days adrift. Callo’s life has been a journey across many seas and many shores, observing the world and the people around him.
Admiral Callo was awarded Naval History Magazine’s Author of the Year award, for his first memoir, The Sea Was Always There (Fireship Press, 2012). His John Paul Jones: America’s First Sea Warrior (Naval Institute Press, 2006) was the 2006 winner of the Samuel Eliot Morison Award.
